TYSON PETE
"Building the Lane That Was Missing"
Some people inherit a map.
Others spend their lives drawing one.
Tyson Pete's work has grown from the second kind of journey. He is an award-winning author, speaker, certified life coach, entrepreneur, culinary professional, recording artist and founder whose body of work explores fatherhood, identity, family, emotional healing, personal accountability and legacy.
He is the creator of:
Courageous Love,
founder of P.R.O.U.D. Inc.,
and founder and editor-in-chief of Courageous Love Collective.
Yet the clearest way to understand Tyson Pete is not by counting titles. It is by following the thread connecting them. That thread is family.

Fatherhood Changed the Direction
On September 22, 2006, Tyson became a father. There are dates that divide a life into before and after. For Tyson, this was one of them. Fatherhood did not make every answer appear. It created a deeper reason to search for them. Parenting required him to confront what he had learned, what he had never been taught, which cycles deserved to end and what kind of emotional inheritance he wanted his children to receive. That journey would eventually influence nearly every part of his work.
Writing What He Could Not Find
Long before Courageous Love became a larger platform, Tyson was a writer. His earlier work explored relationships, identity, love, secrecy, consequences, heartbreak and personal evolution. Over time, his writing increasingly moved toward another question: Where are the resources for people and families whose stories do not fit neatly inside traditional conversations? That question ultimately helped produce
Courageous Love: A Self-Help Guide for Gay Fathers.
The book was written directly for gay fathers navigating the realities of parenting, identity, relationships, emotional wellness, belonging and raising children in a world where their families are not always represented accurately or fully. The book later received the 2025 Regal Summit Book Award for Best Parenting Book. But the award was not the end of the story.
It widened it.
Courageous Love Becomes Bigger Than One Book
Courageous Love evolved into a larger collection examining the emotional architecture behind individuals and families. Subjects expanded to include: healing old wounds; breaking generational cycles; raising children without transferring unresolved pain; learning healthier emotional language; reconsidering discipline; building family traditions; recovering from rejection; developing purpose; navigating identity; and creating legacy.
The books share a central belief:
Healing becomes most powerful when it changes what happens next.
From Writing to Service
Tyson eventually carried that philosophy beyond publishing. He founded P.R.O.U.D. Inc., a nonprofit focused on strengthening gay fathers, LGBTQ+ parents and their families through education, resources, community, advocacy and family-centered support. The purpose was larger than visibility. Representation matters. But families also need practical systems that help them grow, connect and thrive.
Creating a Media Platform
Tyson also founded Courageous Love Collective, an independent publication created to expand representation and conversation across the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Through essays, interviews, commentary, family stories and resources, the publication creates room for conversations about identity, parenting, wellness, culture, family, relationships, healing and everyday life. The philosophy remains consistent: People deserve more than to be mentioned. They deserve to be understood.
Beyond the Written Page
Tyson's work also extends into speaking, coaching, culinary experiences and music. These disciplines may look different from the outside. For Tyson, they share the same root. Storytelling. Connection. Memory. Transformation. A book can tell a story. So can a meal. So can a song. So can a conversation on a stage. The medium changes. The mission remains recognizable
Twenty Years A Father
September 22, 2026, marks twenty years since Tyson became a father. To commemorate the anniversary, Tyson will release the remaining Courageous Love collection in a special literary event called:
Twenty Years A Father: The Courageous Love Legacy
The release brings together years of writing and reflection around parenting, emotional healing, family relationships, identity and legacy. The date was chosen deliberately. Courageous Love exists because the experience of becoming -and continuing to become- a father changed the questions Tyson was willing to ask about himself, family and the future. Twenty years later, those questions have become a body of work
The Work Ahead
Tyson Pete's story is not ultimately about having lived a perfect life. Quite the opposite. It is about refusing to allow the unfinished or imperfect parts of a story to decide the quality of everything that follows. There are still books to write. Families to strengthen. Conversations to start. Rooms to enter. Organizations to build. 13 And children who will someday inherit whatever this generation chooses to leave behind. That is why the work continues.
